This kind of announcement is not new to me as SAP and Samsung were working together for last 2-3 years. Brief overview about SAP and Samsung joint activities till now :-

In Feb'2013, SAP has joined forces with Samsung, which according to Gartner commands over 42.5 percent of the Android market globally, to find solutions to overcome the security concerns that organizations have when deploying Samsung Android devices. At Mobile World Congress, SAP announced expanded Samsung For Enterprise (SAFE) Certification for the industry-leading SAP Afaria mobile device management solution. SAFE certified devices are guaranteed to have met Samsung's security criteria and feature enhancements suitable for business use.

When SAFE devices are managed by SAP Afaria, businesses will be able to effectively manage and secure large numbers of disparate users, bringing their own devices into the workplace from the most widely deployed enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution in the industry.

Samsung KNOX is build on the foundation of the SAFE Certification and provide users enhanced security at all levels of the Android platform.

SAP has already passed all required KNOX certificate tests and has the most integrated KNOX features among MDM (Mobile Device Management) partners. SAP is one of only two Platinum partner among several hundreds of Samsung Enterprise Alliance Program partners.

Samsung KNOX in simple terms is a secure container in your mobile device; a container where all your enterprise related apps will reside.
